Writing Retreat Code of Conduct
Writers Across Oceans is committed to creating a warm, safe, and supportive environment where everyone can focus, create, and connect. By joining us, you agree to the following guidelines:
1. Treat everyone with compassion and respect
Every participant deserves a positive experience. We expect all interactions to be kind, considerate, and inclusive.
2. Respectful communication
Be mindful of your words and actions. Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior or speech. Celebrate differences and create space for all voices.
3. Collaborative and considerate behavior
Support fellow writers by listening actively, offering thoughtful feedback when invited, and respecting personal boundaries, time, and creative processes.
4. A harassment-free space
Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or unwelcome conduct of any kind will not be tolerated. This applies to all retreat spaces—workshops, shared areas, online groups, and social events.
5. Privacy and confidentiality
Respect the privacy of others. Do not share someone else’s writing, personal information, conversations, or images without explicit permission.
6. Addressing concerns
If you feel uncomfortable or observe behavior that goes against this Code of Conduct, please speak with a retreat organizer. We’re here to help, and all reports will be handled respectfully.
7. Commitment to safety and inclusivity
We reserve the right to take appropriate action if this Code is violated, including removal from retreat activities if necessary.
